Post COVID-19 Summer

June 16, 2021

In 2020, the world was at a standstill, and even thinking about the summer's festivities seemed like a distant memory. COVID-19 took the summer of 2020 by storm, and as the world reopens, our mindset is shifting. Our everyday lives are starting to feel more normal, so we're hoping that this will be a summer to remember.

COVID-19 may have caused you to gain a few extra pounds, but you're not alone. The quarantine left the world vulnerable to junk food, limited mobility, and way too much binge-watching. Pre-Covid may have been hard to stay motivated, but working your way back after a global pandemic can be difficult. Whether you are starting keto or maintaining your current diet, we want to provide you with some tips to stay motivated as summer approaches.

Set Goals

Setting a weight-specific goal is not necessary to make diets successful. You can track something as simple as drinking eight glasses of water a day. Motivating yourself after COVID-19 requires baby steps.

In certain parts of the world, the return to your regular health and wellness routine may have already begun. As summer approaches, think about how you want to look and feel. Once you  know what you want, set goals that will help you achieve it.

If you set a measurable goal and failed to achieve it, do not get upset. Our minds and bodies have been through a lot over the past year, so it takes longer than a summer to readjust.Instead of focusing on what you didn't accomplish, change your mindset to focus on what you did accomplish. When setting keto-specific goals, consider our Keto Calculator, which lets you know how many macros you need to maintain ketosis.

Have Fun

If you're feeling unmotivated or sluggish after COVID-19, think of some creative ways to make keto fun. To shift your mindset about dieting, incorporate weekly challenges, try new meals, try new keto-friendly snacks, etc.

You can have a month-long challenge during which you incorporate some of your favorite pastimes and challenges with your friends. Consider doing a keto cook-off with a friend who enjoys cooking. Changing your recipes will also guarantee that you are not eating the same bland meals, which will lead to your diet feeling boring.

You can also distract yourself from the idea of losing weight by taking part in a health and wellness challenge with some of your friends. You'll be so busy doing things and talking with the people you enjoy that your diet will be at the forefront of your mind. A few examples of challenges are fitness challenges, challenges based on water, and challenges based on activity.

A good activity to do with a group of friends is to make keto-friendly snacks. You can make keto-friendly versions of your favorite treats. Alternatively, you can try some genius gourmet Keto snacks like Keto Snack Chips, Bars, and Shakes.

Supplements

Taking supplements ensures your body gets the nutrients it may lack. Supplements are recommended whether or not you are on a ketogenic diet. If you're new to taking supplements,  begin with the traditional ones such as iron, vitamin C, B-12, fish oil, etc. As your body becomes accustomed to taking vitamins, consider adding MCT and collagen powder.

Genius Gourmet offers a wide selection of collagen powder with MCT oils. Consider including this in your daily diet to maintain that summer glow. Supplements are also important because they will help you prepare your body for any changes you make to your health and wellness. If, for example, you are going on a summer trip after COVID-19 and you haven't been active, then taking vitamins will help regulate your  body. By doing this, it will be easier to transition into an active lifestyle.

Conclusion

It has taken a toll on our physical, mental, and emotional well-being in the last year. We are moving towards a new normal, so consider using these tips as you start or maintain the  ketogenic diet.
